Abu Dhabi set to become world’s first city to operate air taxis

Abu Dhabi set to become world’s first city to operate air taxis Abu Dhabi has set its sights on becoming the world’s first city to operate air taxis by the end of 2025, signing a deal to operate an air taxi service. The agreement with local US company Archer Aviation will see the construction of electric-vertical-take-off-and-landing (EVTOL) aircraft in the UAE capital. If the project is successful, Archer’s Midnight craft will be able to move between multiple ‘vertical ports’ built across the city with four passengers, reducing travel times by 80%. According to a company spokesperson, the Midnight has the same safety profile as commercial airlines, while it is 100 times quieter than a helicopter when flying at high altitudes.
